Roux is used to thicken sauces.

Ingredients:

3 parts all purpose flour

2 parts butter (instead of butter, use rendered fat for extra flavor)

Method:

Heat the butter over medium heat, add the flour while continuously stirring to combine. Roux is used in 4 colors, white, blonde, brown and dark. To achieve the desired color, continue cooking on medium heat while stirring the roux. pexels-photo-94443.jpeg
